AMM & MUTTI

Mutti-AMM Prize

In 2011 the Va’ Pensiero project won the Gianandrea Mutti Prize. It is an almost impossible task for a filmmaker of migrant origin to find the funds to finance his work in Italy. The production of such works of has no cultural or political backing, investment from television networks is rare and support from southern film Foundations is in short supply. The Gianandrea Mutti Prize was created in 2008 by the Officina Cinema Sud-Est and the Cineteca di Bologna in order to fill this funding gap, with the aim of promoting new forms of personal representation through films and documentaries. The prize received additional support from the Associazione Amici di Giana in 2009, followed by the Archive for Migrant Memories (AMM) in 2012.
